this illusion

though this illusion is real
it is still an illusion
you can see it
or you can see through it
you can reach out and touch it
even though you are it

you can smell and taste and hear it
though it is odourless, tasteless, and silent
you can see it
in black and white or in living colour
you can feel it
and it feels you

you can smell and taste and hear it
all at once, one at a time
you can question it
in fact, it begs you to
billions of sediment layers
waiting to be waded through
countless webby strings
tangle you in your own reflection

isn’t it beautiful?

About the Author: I have a B.A. in Honours Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo and I love all major world religions – Eastern, Western, or in between. I’m genderqueer, and I’m comfortable with male, neutral, and female pronouns. I’m married to my dear wife Lynn, who is the love of my life, my best friend, and my muse. I think far too much, and often have too many ideas to know what to do with. And I am a doing being, just like you!
