the look that’s in your eyes

the look that’s in your eyes
is fire in the night,
turns water into wine,
and fables into truth;
the look that’s in your eyes
inspires like a bite –
you’re hotter than july,
your hazel makes me loose;
the look that’s in your eyes
desires to ignite
the sparks along my spine,
unstable, coursing through;
the look that’s in your eyes
perspires like a disguise
and conquers conscious mind,
unable to refuse:
the look that’s in your eyes –
my fire in the night,
turns this author into wine,
and fables into truth.

About the Author: I have a B.A. in Honours Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo and I love all major world religions – Eastern, Western, or in between. I’m genderqueer, and I’m comfortable with male, neutral, and female pronouns. I’m married to my dear wife Lynn, who is the love of my life, my best friend, and my muse. I think far too much, and often have too many ideas to know what to do with. And I am a doing being, just like you!

  1. This is a nicely done poem, very clever and romantic. What or who was your inspiration when you wrote this?

    Hey, don’t hesitate to visit my blog page, I would love to connect with you. 🙂

    • Thanks so much 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed it! I try not to use cliches (except on purpose) but it wouldn’t be wrong to call me a “hopeless romantic.”

      My inspiration for this poem (and any poem in my Poemilynn collection) is my wife. She’s my best friend, my muse, and I can’t really help but write about her!
