these tears

these tears fill my eyes
hot and salty, burning throat,
verging on a burst

these tears fill my eyes
I’m blinded, a folding chair
stored in a shed for winter
dark, forgotten, cold

these tears fill my eyes
“I’m fine, it’s fine, I’m fine,” my
mouth blurts out and tastes the salt
flowing down before I can
ask someone for help

these tears fill my eyes
dark and hazy like red wine
these glasses are full of pain
I pour them out over and
over – you fill them again
blurring my vision
