A Day in the Life.

I am selfish in the morning
Unable to open my eyes
And clearly focus
On the world around me
Who am I?

By noon I see much clearer
But my eyes are bigger than my stomach
And my loud belly drowns out
The cries of starving children
Who am I?

In the evening I’m exhausted
The day has passed me by
I’ve no strength to do or say anything
So I flick on the blue-light screen and watch
Who am I?

Midnight comes and I’m awake
Brain circling around the drain
Everything I learned today
I will forget by tomorrow
Who am I?
