my constellation is rarely visible to the naked eye
but, from time to time, it’s possible to observe my shine
each of my planets orbits a different star
they’re disjointed, lightyears apart
they’re each bound by a different gravity
some spin gracefully, others savagely – each has a climate all its own
some of them rhyme, but none are clones
beach paradises can be found, others are lush jungles and swamps
some have no trace of dry ground, some are timid, others proud
they rarely do what I want, and it’s not worth forcing something
to take shape when the timing’s off
but when they finally align, I can feel them lock into destiny
spinning so effortlessly inside of me, forming an effervescent symphony
and no eye can deny the beauty that I hide

About the Author: I have a B.A. in Honours Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo and I love all major world religions – Eastern, Western, or in between. I’m genderqueer, and I’m comfortable with male, neutral, and female pronouns. I’m married to my dear wife Lynn, who is the love of my life, my best friend, and my muse. I think far too much, and often have too many ideas to know what to do with. And I am a doing being, just like you!
