I am never alone – I am a community
I appear as one but look closely, you will see
I’m two breathing lungs and a heart with two beats
a kick and a snare dancing 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3
my body comes alive, the one from the unity
but my body needs a mind if alive I’m to truly be
’cause a rhythmless rhyme feels lost and incomplete
yet the mind would be blind without senses to feel and see
so my mind needs the senses of my body to be complete
just as the heat of the sun is good food for plants and trees
and the breath in my lungs comes from their roots and leaves
and the pink in my veins is the salt of the green-blue sea
so I am never alone – I am a community

About the Author: I have a B.A. in Honours Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo and I love all major world religions – Eastern, Western, or in between. I’m genderqueer, and I’m comfortable with male, neutral, and female pronouns. I’m married to my dear wife Lynn, who is the love of my life, my best friend, and my muse. I think far too much, and often have too many ideas to know what to do with. And I am a doing being, just like you!
